Plot Outline: The Visa papers have arrived for stock broker, Salim Rajabali, and he is scheduled to leave in less than a week. Then everything goes wrong when he and his brother, Javed, inadvertently implicate themselves in the murder of Deputy Commissioner of Police Paul, and Salim must flee immediately to the U.S. albeit with a heavy heart, after also being betrayed by his lover, Namrata. Plot Outline: An actor enacting dual roles isn’t new for Bollywood. Dilip Kumar [RAM AUR SHYAM], Rajesh Khanna [SACHCHA JHOOTHA], Amitabh Bachchan [SATTE PE SATTA], Hema Malini [SEETA AUR GEETA], Sridevi [CHAALBAAZ], Shah Rukh Khan [DUPLICATE], Salman Khan [JUDWAA]… over the years, a number of makers have woven stories around humshakals/twins.

SUPER STAR also takes a similar path. With Bollywood as the backdrop, SUPER STAR looks at greed taking over a person, who manipulates things to suit himself. An interesting idea without doubt and director Rohit Jugraj’s execution lights the frames as well. In fact, it’s a big leap for Jugraj, who started with JAMES; a number of sequences are definitely noteworthy.

Plot Outline: Vicky lives a wealthy lifestyle with his widower dad, J.B., in India. Since he has matured, his dad would like him to get married to Sonia, who is the daughter of his friend, D.D., who is an Archeologist, currently looking for artifacts in Sangramgarh. Vicky and Sonia like each other and have no qualms of getting married. Then a series of events shake-up the crew at the site at Sangramgarh as they find that what appears to be an underground palace. The locals are superstitious and afraid of what they happen if they start digging and would prefer to leave the past alone. They may well be right as an ancient, ageless and cruel entity, Rajkumari Suryalekha, who at one time actually reared a half-man half-beast, cannibals and man-eating beasts to defeat and kill all her suitors as she hated men, save and except for Vikram Singh, who was able to emerge victorious, but ended up rejecting her as she had his friend, Amar Singh, killed. Plot Outline: At the tender age of 8 Ajay Kumar is traumatized with the death of his army officer dad, who kills himself with his service revolver as he was being accused of being a deserter, leaving a widowed Prabha to bring up Ajay on her own. Ajay grows up, studies, and successfully becomes an IPS officer with the title of SSP. Due to his honesty, he gets transferred to various states in India. At this new posting in Uttar Pradesh he comes to terms with criminal don and ruthless killer Gajraj Singh. Ajay would like a set up a Special Task Force to deal with Gajraj, however, he does run into problems as Gajraj is politically well-connected. Then a child, who is a close friend of the state Chief Minister’s, is kidnapped by Gajraj, and this paves the way for formation of the STF, consisting of about 8 honest and dedicated men, and this does results in the rescue of the child. Gajraj continues to elude the STF, using more modern technology such as the use of cell phones. But the STF bounces back and is able to monitor Gajraj’s cell phones - only to find out that Gajraj is going to contest the elections - and if he wins than no police officer of any rank, leave alone the STF, can dare to arrest him or even consider him a suspect, and which may well result in the STF being mere paper tigers.

Plot Outline:Malavika Chauhan (Sushmita Sen, she has always come across an intelligent person doing inane roles. She tries to find clues to get to the murderer with help from her assistant Satya (Sushant Singh in his first role where he does not snatch the whole credit from the lead actors).

The forensic analysis of the murder done by Doc (Rajesh Khera in a stupid and irritating role) further deepens the mystery as no clue can be found as to the murder weapon or the presence of the murderer at the scene of the crime. While still in the middle of solving this crime, another murder is committed; that of a leading actress in the film industry.

Plot Outline:Rahul Khanna works as a laborer in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and has family living in India. He is unhappy at work, as he had opted for a desk job, but was swindled by unscrupulous employment agents. He daydreams of a better life, gets into an argument with his Supervisor and is fired. He finds work at ‘Big B’ restaurant, but seeks employment elsewhere, only to quit due to dissatisfaction. Then breathtakingly beautiful Neha enters his life and everything changes, he decides to start his own business as a recruitment agent, invests a lot of money getting visas, but eventually finds himself in trouble with the Police, who do not arrest him, but confiscate his visas, leaving him penniless and in debt. He finds employment and tries to stick to it, but again gets fired when he misbehaves with his Manager. He finds his niche in an organization run by Manmohan Kapoor initially as a Sales Representative, then is promoted to Branch Manager, finally is offered the partnership with a condition that he must marry Kapoor’s daughter.

Plot Outline:Bhola (Sunil Dutt) is a simple minded young man who has taken a vow to act according to the book of shashtras, which dictate that a man must marry when he is of the right age. Bhola is thrilled, but soon despairs when he learns that Bindu has given her heart to Master Pillai (Mehmood). Plot Outline:Javed Abbas (Jackie Shroff) is widowed Police Officer with four children. His partner is Arun Verma (Shahrukh Khan). Both Javed and Arun are honest, hard-working and diligent. Plot Outline:A subject like this may’ve worked in the 1970s and 1980s, but with television attempting almost all issues pertaining to families, a film like Janani comes too late in the day. Another factor that goes against the film is that the execution of the subject is also old-fashioned.

Urmila [Ayesha Julka], an enterprising woman who runs a toy company, is married to Raj [Mohnish Bahl], a businessman with interest in real estate. Plot Outline:Director Deepak Shivdasani has said that his film ‘Julie’ is not about skin show but soul searching. The truth is that the movie has neither. Like a clever businessman, Deepak chose the attention-grabbing story of a prostitute and sprinkled it with regular and controlled doses of skin exposure by actress Neha Dhupia. And lo! comes a movie that has little substance but more saleable factors.

Also add to this the disappointment of those who carry the fancy notion that the movie is some kind of a soft porn. The sexually explicit scenes in the film are somewhat titillating but they do not cross the acceptable limits.

The area is full of corruption, inefficiency, bribery, nepotism, favoritism and crime with help from the local police. Gradually Amit realizes that the local politician Sadhu Yadav is the one who benefits the most out of it. Amit arrests Sunder Yadav, Sadhu’s son. While Sunder is released soon, some police officers, get frustrated with the system, and pour acid into the eyes of two of Yadav’s men, blinding them. A hue and cry is raised by the media, crime almost comes to a standstill, and the police are regarded with respect. SP Amit Kumar must now put an end to this kind of situation.
